After I realized how expensive a fence was going to be, I got it in my head that we could do a small patio ourselves. Initially I wanted something bigger, but once I realized how much work and money it was going to be, smaller was better.
Delivery of the stone and sand in the snow!
90 square and 180 rectangle stones, 3 5 gallon buckets of polymer sand, and 17 bags of paver base. I carried this all by myself back and forth from the front yard. I literally couldn’t pick up Gavin after.
Before we did the last step of laying down the polymer sand, we sealed the stones with multi-surface sealer.
Ta-da! I have to say, I am pretty happy with it. We are not DIY-ers so this was success to us! Now I just need my fence up and some grass. I am so tired of all this dirt!
We also had to rent a paver saw to cut some of the stones down to make everything line up, so even though this wasn’t a cheap project, it would have been way more expensive if we had someone do it for us!
I am trying to figure out how to make it prettier out there, but I am not a gardener at all! Also, it is so dang hot and sunny out there in the afternoons so I have got to put some trees or a canopy or something. Any ideas?
The first Wednesday of the month, Kiley doesn’t have school, so I wanted to take advantage of that and take a little day trip down to Downtown Denver and go to the aquarium. I have to say, I wasn’t too impressed. I liked the Atlanta aquarium much better! But there were no crowds and even though the girls were scared at some of the exhibits (including Bryn screaming and running away from an animatronic orangutan in the rainforest exhibit) , it was all worth it because of the mermaid show! Kiley had a slight obsession with mermaids a couple of months ago when she was convinced she turned into a mermaid everytime she touched water, so this was so exciting for them!
It was VERY cold outside and even though we got there just 5 minutes before it opened, they wouldn’t let us in. I was so mad!
The sea otters were playing with us!
Kiley: “Mom, this fish is awkward.”
Meeting the mermaids!
I had the pleasure of taking Bryn and Gavin with me to the DMV to get a Colorado driver’s license. When I walked in, my wait time was 20 minutes. Two and a half hours later I was finally walking out of that dang place! Gavin was content to people watch though!
We have had quite a bit more snow. The girls love it, Gavin not so much.
We even found a great place to go sledding and the girls loved it! John was taking them down the hill over and over.
We found a great BBQ place and Kiley dug into a huge hamburger. That girl can eat!
Gavin is starting to give me a run for my money. He is still the sweetest thing, but he is testing his abilities. He loves to stand up now and he also enjoys opening and closing the cabinets. Over and over and over and over.
Bryn started her very first swim classes without me in the water with her. It was terrifying because she wouldn’t sit still on the steps while waiting for her turn and she eventually slipped and was under water for a full 10 seconds or so before the teacher got to her. I thought that would teach her a lesson, but nope! Needless to say, I now stand right next to the pool where they are.
